Our favorite Canadian master luthier has done it again! The latest spec build for our inventory is this superb short scale (24 5/8") Future model, featuring an alder body in Ocean Turquoise Metallic, a birdseye maple neck with a satin nitro tinted finish and matching headstock, capped off with a gorgeous, dark Madagascar rosewood fingerboard.
The Future model is a Ted Stevenson specialty. It splits the difference between the Classic (full pickguard/top routed) and the Standard (no pickguard/rear routed). With the neck and middle pickups mounted in a pickguard you get the classic harmonic response and airiness that you expect from the Classic model in those positions. Direct-mounting the bridge humbucker right into the body wood gives a strong fundamental and a more punchy tone.
The exclusive Ted Stevenson Pro Lock neck joint provides a smooth, sculpted feel for unimpeded access to the highest frets, and uses an internal mechanical structure that ensures maximum energy transfer for exceptional acoustic volume, full bandwidth timbre and long-lasting sustain and impeccable stability. It's a thing of beauty.
Electronics are Ted's own handmade pickups, featuring 60s-wound single coils that are fat and greasy but with plenty of air and chime, along with a PAF-ish humbucker for the rockin' bridge pickup tones with plenty of sustain and bite, yet capable of delivering all the finesse you can bring to the table. Master volume and tone, coupled with a push/push pot to put the bridge pickup in parallel mode for a more jangly bridge pickup tone while still remaining hum-canceling.
Ted Stevenson personally hand builds his guitars, one at a time. Each guitar starts out with wood selected from his personally curated and seasoned stash, and is taken every step of the way: From gluing up body blanks, fretting, binding and spraying all types of finishes, all the way through taping up the box and filling out the shipping documentation. This is a true Artistan-made instrument, and you will not be disappointed.
