While I can't say for certain that in the 50 year history of Spector basses there has never been a USA made NS-2 with solid koa body sides, I have not yet been able to find anyone to say that they have seen one... before this. Suffice it to say, solid koa body sides on an NS-2 are extremely rare, to say the least.

The sides on a Spector NS body require larger than typical dimensions, making it a challenge to get suitable material for certain types of exotic wood. Koa has become exceedingly difficult to find in large sizes, making it rare and expensive. I was able to find a piece last year that fit these requirements, and was beyond excited to be able to deliver this piece of Hawaiian Koa to the team at Spector USA on my recent pilgrimage to the Shokan, NY factory. This instrument is the fruit of that labor.
